Indian stars to shine at Tokyo Olympics – Divya kakran.

In the Common wealth games 2018 India finished third, which is its best ever standing in a international tournament. Indian Women performed exceptionally well in the tournament. One of the few names from the list is “Divya Kakran”. She won the bronze medal in the women’s 68 kg freestyle wrestling.

Divya Kakran is a free style wrestler from India. She was born in a middle class family & lives at Gokulpur in East Delhi. Her Father Suraj Kakran used to sell Langots and her mother stitched clothes at home.Divya studied in Noida college od Pyhsical Education at Dadri.

Her father was a wrestler & he tried to make a nane for himself however he could never reach up to his desired goal Her father wanted his son to fullfill his dream but he did not show any interest in that profession so at an early age of 5 when Divya started showing interest in wrestling his father made sure he helped her to acheive what he could not. In India, a male dominant society it is very difficult for girls to come out & make a name for theirself.

As now girl used to wrestle in that area her father made her fight with boys & much to everyones surprise she would beat them. She was known throughout the north as the girl who defeated boys in “Dangal”. Soon she started wrestling & won her first Bharat Kesari by defeating Geeta phogat.

In 2017 she became the third Indian to win a Silver in the Asian championship organized in India followed by Vinesh phogat & Sakshi Malik.

However she had to stop wrestling as she had a stone in her kidney. She came back in action after some time & wom her gold in the wrestling Nationals held at Indore. Later shewon the Gold at the Common Wealth in Johanesberg in South Africa.

She has over 60 Medals including 17 Gold for Delhi State Championship. She has been Bharat Kesari for a record six times.
She is India’s one of the favourites to bring Medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
