India beat Australia at the Gabba by 3 wickets to win the 4-match test series 2-1. This is the first time that a team has beaten Australia in Brisbane in 31 years, that’s why this win is certainly historic and no surprise the social media erupted moments.

This is the primary time Australia lost a match at Brisbane since 1988. India won the fourth and final test of the series with three wickets, clinching the series by 2-1. Now, India retains the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after a big victory at Gabba. 

According to press agency AFP, India achieved a record run-chase during a thrilling final session handling Australia their first defeat at Brisbane’s Gabba ground since 1988 and clinching the four-test series 2-1 on Tuesday. Australia had not beaten at the Gabba since falling to Viv Richards’ all conquering West Indies side by nine wickets in November 1988. The BCCI tweeted, “Fortress Gabba captured as #TeamIndia beat Australia and won the Border-Gavaskar Series 2-1.”  

The win has prompted a flurry of congratulatory messages for Team India from across the world. 

Google CEO Sundar Pichai congratulated India for "One of the greatest test series wins ever" in a tweet.
