Indian Army to get “Bullet proof jackets”.
Indian government signed a contract which will now get Bullet proof jackets for our soldiers.
The contract has been signed with SMPP Pvt Ltd. SMPP have signed their biggest order ever of Rs.639 crore. The company in a statement said that “These bulletproof jackets have ‘Boron Carbide Ceramic’ which is the lightest material for ballistic protection,” & the order will be delivered within 3 years said the company.
The jackets are designed to sustain the impact of even the latest hard steel core bullets in saving the lives of soldiers in operations.
It was back in 2009 where the government accepted the army requirement of 1.86 lakh bulletproof jackets but the order fell through because no vendor could cleared the trials conducted by the Indian army. Only one participant cleared the first round however they later failed in the second round.
