While Diwali has been celebrated in Diwali the last week, US President Donald Trump lit a lamp in the white house after a week to celebrate the festival. And if this was not awkward enough he even forgot to mention the name of Hindus in the tweet which we wrote.

The initial tweet from the @realDonaldTrump account dubbed the festival as “a holiday observed by Buddhists, Sikhs, and Jains”, and did not mention Hindus. The tweet also included a link that was broken. Coming under fire, the tweet was deleted shortly and a second tweet went out with only a workable link but no mention of Hindus, yet again.

“Today, we gathered for Diwali, a holiday observed by Buddhists, Sikhs, and Jains throughout the United States & around the world. Hundreds of millions of people have gathered with family & friends to light the Diya and to mark the beginning of a New Year,” the tweet read with a YouTube link to his speech delivered at the ceremony.

People took to twitter to express the blunder. Here are the reactions.
